Visual Hierarchy

Visual hierarchies create centers of interest on your page, communicate additional meaning through convention and repetition, highlight actions you want your visitors to take, and establish patterns of movement and flow.

I think for the style of website I am going to design it is worth thinking about page scanning patterns. The z-pattern will be more applicable because the site will be more image based than text.

I  want to utilise space in my design to create good figure-ground relationships between the page elements.

All principles of visual hierarchy will need to be considered but I think it will be most applied to type choice in my design.
